Making exercise accessible for everyone in Boroondara!

Making exercise accessible for everyone in Boroondara!

YMCA Victoria, in partnership with Gymnastics Victoria is pleased to pilot Aerobase Community, an introductory program focusing on basic aerobic movements for adults with a disability in Boroondara.

The program

Aerobase Community is a five week program that introduces participants to basic aerobic movements utilising different modes of learning tailored to people with a disability. All sessions will be run by a YMCA instructor to ensure that participants are supported and encouraged throughout the class. The program includes instructional lesson plans on video that run for 10-15 minutes and includes exercises to warm up, work out and cool down so that participants learn the importance of preparing the body for exercise. At the end of the five week program, participants are encouraged to create their own aerobics routine utilising movements they have learnt throughout the program.

The Facility

The Boroondara Sports Complex (BSC) is a state of the art sports facility boasting a 50m outdoor pool, multi-purpose stadiums, health club and gymnastics facilities. The Cost
