2021 Disability Sport and Recreation Awards

2021 Disability Sport and Recreation Awards

The annual Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards recognise the accomplishments of people with disability; those who support them and the inclusive sport and recreation sector across the state.

It is an opportunity to celebrate the athletes, volunteers, officials, administrators, clubs, venues, and programs that enable and empower people with disability to get active and achieve their goals.

The awards are also an opportunity to discover unsung heroes and rising stars and celebrate what’s truly great about accessible and inclusive sport.

This year’s awards celebrate activities over an 18 month period from 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2021.

Off the back of the successful interactive community involvement in Disability Sport and Recreation’s ‘Show Us You Can Play’ campaign, this year’s awards will also have an increased focus on interactivity.   Nominators and nominees will be able to use the Benchvote platform to easily submit their nominations while community participation is being explored for greater involvement in the judging process.

The Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards are an initiative of Disability Sport & Recreation (DSR), supported by My Sport Live, the Carbine Club, PwC, and the Victorian Government.

DSR CEO Richard Amon said, “The annual Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards are a highlight for the sector and will be held soon after the Tokyo Paralympics. We look forward to returning to an in-person event to once again celebrate together at PwC Southbank. Following a difficult 18 month period for the sector, we will not only be recognising traditional sports and recreation activities but the initiative of the year will reflect on innovation that occurred to support physical activity during COVID-19. Following record nominations in the 2020 awards, I encourage all in the sector to submit their nominations.”
